John Major (b.1740) and Elizabeth Redd were parents to two sons, James(b.1771) and John b.1764) among others. James married Elizabeth Minter. John married Judith Trabue. James and Elizabeth are the parents of Joseph Minter Major (b. about 1802). John and Judith are the parents of Joseph Major who married Henrietta Catlett. This Joseph is a 1st cousin to Joseph Minter Major.
