Charles Morgan Settle, son of George and Mary (Morgan) Settle, was born in Fauquier Co., VA, ca 1782; he died in Barren Co., KY, 1839 (Deed Book Y, page 258, Barren Co., KY).
He married in Warren Co., KY, 17 Oct 1811 (Marriage Book A, page 234, Warren Co., KY), Elizabeth C. Smith, daughter of Samuel, Jr. and Sally (Catlett) Smith. She was born in Northumberland Co., VA, ca 1785, and died in Barren Co., KY, ca 1860.
Charles Settle by profession was a medical doctor. About 1808, he came from Fauquier Co., VA, to Warren Co., KY, in company with his father, George Settle, and other members of his family. At that time, Dr. Charles Settle was single so he lived at the home of his father on the head of Buck Creek. He assisted in building his father's home, and also helped with the erection of the mill on the headwaters of Buck Creek.
After his marriage in 1811, he and his wife made their home with his father, who for a number of years had been a widower. In the meantime, his father had turned over to him the management of his home, mill, and farm, and before his death, he deeded him the farm and mill (Deed Book 9, page 13, Warren Co., KY). Also, he gave him and additional 100 acres of land on Skeggs Creek, Barren Co., KY.
In 1822, several years after the death of his father, Dr. Charles Settle sold the old home of his father on Buck Creek to his brother-in-law, Washington Smith (Deed Book 10, page 23, Warren Co., KY). Dr. Settle then moved to the Skeggs Creek property near Old Rocky Hill, KY, where he established a new home, and practiced medicine until his death in 1839.
