E-mail received from David Nicholls on 9 Jan 2012:
Hi Carol and Terry,
I just wanted to give you an update on 2 recent deaths in my family. You may want to enter this information into your family history files as I have just done in mine.
The most recent was last night, Sunday Jan 8th. My Aunt Reba (Reba Marian LeDrew Lumley)
passed away peacefully in the hospital in Powell River,BC at about 6:00 pm local time (mountain, I think) Her daughter, Ana was there with her.Reba had been fighting cancer for several years and was a breast cancer survivor twice and was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. She was born 12 Jan 1922 so was 4 days away from her
90th birthday. She was the last survivor of her generation of our family.I had just mailed her a birthday card.
The other tragic death was my aunt Reba's son, Shaughn Lumley was found dead in his apartment in Red Deer Alberta on Christmas Day, 25 December 2011. The RCMP have determined that he was murdered and his girlfriend (name currently unknown) has been arrested! His sister Anna was contacted to identify his remains. His body was cremated and at last word his ashes were in Powell River, BC awaiting burial plans.
I had spoken with Aunt Reba a couple of times last week by phone and got a call from Anna today.
She will stay in Powell River to take care of things there before returning to he home in Swan River Manitoba. Our prayers now are for Anna as she has to deal with what has to be done after this double tragedy!
