Thomas BORDEN

RESEARCHER-MARRIAGE: Information provided to T.Mason on 1Dec2001 by Una A. Bowman. Thomas Borden became a resident of Salem County, New Jersey. Marriage in Salem Monthly Meeting Records state Thomas Borden received on a certificate from Evesham Monthly Meeting dated 1763-11-4.  Disowned in 1769.

Thomas Borden who witnessed the codicil of Josiah Foster on 16 August 1760 MAY HAVE BEEN the son of Jonathan Borden (b.1690) and the nephew of Josiah Foster who had married Amy Borden (b. 1684).  NOTE: Josiah Foster was of Evesham when he died and Thomas Borden received a certificate from Evesham monthly Meeting date 1763-11-4 to Salem Monthly Meeting. (I have not read the will or codicils of Josiah Foster.  Therefore, I do not know if Thomas Borden confirmed he had witnessed the codicil which may have given a clue to where Thomas resided in 1770). (NOTE: In 1773, Thomas Borden was living in Pilesgrove, Salem County, New Jersey.) Josiah Foster's son William Foster (b. 1707) of Evesham, Burlington County died eight years after his father in 1778.  His will "also 20 acres now in tenure of Thomas Burdin, in Salem County."  Josiah Foster's daughter Hannah Foster married twice in Monthly Meeting in Salem County, New Jersey.
