OBITUARY: The Daily Oklahoman dated January 9, 1953
James Letts Kelly of 211 NE 7th, died Thursday, January 8, 1953.  Services are set for Friday in the Garrison Funeral Church at 1:30 P.M. with burial in the Dale Cemetery, Dale, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma.  Mr Kelly died Thursday morning in his home of a long illness of 18 months. A city resident since 1943, Kelly farmed near McLoud, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma for about 20 years before moving to Wellston, Lincoln County, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Baptist Church.  Surviving are one son, U.L.Kelly, 1220 S.Blackwelder; two daughters; Velma Cheatham 221 N.E. 7th; Mrs J.M. Stevens, Ada, Oklahoma; and a brother Ross Kelly, Stuttgart, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.


Lilly Muriel Kelly

Lillie "Muriel" Carpenter, passed away October 21, 1994.  She was born May 17, 1919 in McLoud, Oklahoma in a log cabin to Francis Varbel and Clair James Kelly.  She was married to R. O. "Jap" Carpenter June 21, 1942, in Cox City, Oklahoma.  She is a member Britton Christian Church in OKC, the Builders Class, C.W.F., RSVP, and was a volunteer at the Wilshire Nursing Home.  Preceded in death by her husband Jap Carpenter and Clair James Kelly, Jr.  She is survived by her daughter Carol Sue NORDMAN Smith and her husband Arthur L. Smith; her son James Roscoe Carpenter and his wife Roylene Carpenter; four grandchildren Nancy Stevenson, Vickie Bogardus, Lori Ledderman and her husband Robert Ledderman and Chad Carpenter; two great grandchildren Jessica Bogardus and Mathew Stephenson.  All loved her dearly and will miss her immensely.  Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 24, 1994 at Britton Christian Church, 922 N.W. 92st, in Oklahoma City.  Interment will be at Dale Cemetery, Dale, Pottawatomie County, OK.  Memorials made be made in memory of Muriel Carpenter to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Program, Oklahoma Division.
