Ernest Edward Cowan

    "Services were held in the Agent Chapel for Ernest Edward Cowan, Vian, on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Monroe Reid officiating.
    Burial was in the McCoy Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home. Mr. Cowan was born in Harmony, Arkansas., on Jan. 17, 1912 and died at his home on Sunday, Sept. 12th. He was a veteran of World War II.
    His is survived by his widow, Ruth of the home; one son, Ernest Edward Cowan, Jr. of Vian; one daughter, Ruth Fern Breese of Short; four grandchildren; his father, A.E. Cowan of Visalia, Calif.; two brothers, Ralph of Winter Park, Fla., and G.W. of Gadsen Grove, Calif.; three sisters, Grace Craft of El Paso, Texas., Myrtle Borwn of Cotati, Calif., and betty Matherly of Porterville, Calif."

James Spencer Lewis

    "James S. Lewis, aged 95, of Fort Smith died May 15 in a Fort Smith hospital.
    A native of Johnson County, he was associated with Sinclair Oil Company for 34 years, was owner of Lewis Oil Company for ten years. a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith where he served as an elder, and was a member and a past deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville.
    Survivors are one son, Paul Lewis of Fort Smith; one sister, Mrs. Lossie Dickerson of Clarksville; one granddaughter, Paula Sizemore of Dallas, Texas; and two great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with Dr. George Gilmour officiating. Entombment was in Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith.
    Pallbearers were Babe Cialone, Dwight Sample, Jack Newlon, Danny Whittington, Charles Hancock and Bruce Morris.
    Memorials maybe made to the Central Presbyterian Church".

    "J. Roy Boen, 77, of Clarksville died Sunday at a Johnson County Hospital. He was a retired postal employee and member of First United Methodist Church.
    Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
    He is survived by a daughter, Elma Warren of Bradley, and a son, James of Clarksville."
