Maj. Griffin Fauntleroy

DEATH: Letter from Mary Jo Fite, Cordell, OK, to T Mason; ; dtd 25 Sep 1996; in poss of T Mason; NOTE: page 613, Captain Henry Fauntleroy was a first cousin of Hannah Bushrod, the wife of Col.. John Augustine Washington. ... His cousin, Major Griffin Fauntleroy, 1st Va. Light Dragoons Continental Line (son of Capt. Bushrod Fauntleroy), was mortally wounded at the battle of Guilford Court House, N.C. 15 March, 1781.

DEATH-MONUMENT: Guilford Court House battlefield "This site was occupied by the 1st. Virginia Cavalry under Lieutenant Colonel William Washington, Cont'l. Line, and it was here Captain Griffin Fauntleroy, 1st. Va. Lt. Dragoons, Cont'l. Line was mortally wounded on March 15, 1781.  Born September 28, 1754 Northumberland Co., Va."
