George Baldrick

1Boldrick Family Records, Boldrick, Ernest Herlong. The Baldrick forbearer was settled in Donegal in the Northwest of Ireland. George was the third of fourth generation of the Baldrick name in Ireland. He had immigrated from Yorkshire, England at the time of the Cromwell invasion of Ireland. People who were resettled in Ireland by Olvier Cromwell, prime minister of the short British Republic, were referred to as undertakers because they undertook to bring the Church of England and to eliminate the Roman Catholic dominance of Ireland. The method was by killing off the men and exporting the Catholic women to Barbados and the American colonies as domestics and dividing the land among Englishmen.
