Ruth Worley
Graveside service for Ruth Lawler Worley, 90, of Route 2 Decatur will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Brooks Barkley officiating and Brown Service Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Worley died Sunday at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Ruth Lawler James on Jan. 1, 1903 in Gurley. She was the widow of Earl C. Worley Sr., and a former owner of E & W Upholstery. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, James B. Worley and Earl Clarence Worley Jr., both of Decatur; two daughters, Laura Blevins of Decatur and Geraldine Vessel of Sarasata, Fla.; one brother, Thomas James of Baton Rouge, La.; one sister, Mildred Jordan of Lucerne, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Worley, Earl Worley III, Bruce Worley, Earl Penn, Russell Large and John Grant." Image.

Funeral services for Ollie Thomas Cardin, 63, retired farmer, were held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at Pulaski Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Floyd Cates, pastor of First Baptist Church, Pulaski, and the Rev. Mack Pinkelton, Baptist minister. Burial took place in the Hanna Cemetery.
Mr. Cardin died of a heart attack at 5:30 o'clock on Wednesday morning November 9, at Giles County Hospital.
Born July 10, 1897, in Giles County, he was the son of the late Tommy Cardin and Ketty Thomas Cardin.
Mr. Cardin is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Trotman Cardin; eight sons, Ollie Cardin, Jr., Peoria, Ill., Ray Cardin, San Diego, Calif., Robert, James, Joe, Gene, Charles and Alvin Cardin, all of Giles County; three daughters, Mrs. John Smith, Pulaski, Mrs. G. K. Johnson, Minor Hill, and Mrs. Atha Mitchell, Jr., Frankewing; four grandchildren; one brother, Harry Cardin, Decatur, Ala.; and two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Boaz, and Mrs. Annie Mitchell, both of Pulaski.

Funeral services for Mrs. Eunice Mildred Thomas Birdsong, 67, resident of the Bethesda section of the county, were held at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon in the chapel of Bennett-May Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James T. Parsons and the Rev. Earl Cantrell, pastor of the Bethesda Methodist Church. Mrs. Birdsong who had been in declining health for some time, died of a heart attack Sunday morning while enroute to the hospital.
Born September 21, 1891, in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac B. Thomas and Ophelia Brown Thomas, and was a member of Bethesda Methodist Church. Her husband, Henry Kirk Birdsong, died December 21, 1953.
Mrs. Birdsong is survived by four sons, Freeman Birdsong, Thomas Birdsong, and Brown Birdsong, all of the Bunker Hill-Bethesda section, and John Wilson Birdsong, Pulaski; five daughters, Miss Everlene Birdsong, Bethesda, Mrs. Guy Bass, Pulaski, Mrs. John Owens, Cornersville, Mrs. James Owens, Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Stacy Pierson, Shelbyville; twenty-four grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Rabie Wilson, Birmingham, Ala., and Mrs. Mitchell Chambers, Benton, Ky.
